More About Us

If you're reading this page, you're asking good questions. That's exactly the kind of person we want here. What follows isn't a statement of what you're required to believe to belong — it's a window into who we are, where we come from, and what we're reaching toward together. Come in. Look around. Take what's useful.

Four Words That Tell Our Story

Christian. We are part of the body of Christ — the universal church that stretches across centuries and continents. We hold that identity openly, not narrowly.

Reformed. We come from the Reformation conviction that the church must always be willing to examine itself and follow truth wherever it leads. Every person has direct access to the grace of God. No intermediary required.

Congregational. No bishop tells us what to do. Pastor and people covenant with one another and with God — figuring out what faithfulness looks like in this time and place.

Evangelical. Not in the way that word gets used today. Evangelical from evangel — the good news. Our job is to proclaim it by how we live, how we treat people, and what we show up for in the world.

What We Believe

We don't have a checklist of required beliefs. What we have are convictions.

In essentials, unity. In non-essentials, diversity. In all things, charity. Harder than it sounds. We're still practicing it.

Testimonies, not tests. Faith gets expressed in a thousand ways. We walk together toward what's true and good — we don't sort people by what they believe correctly. "There is no longer Jew or Greek, slave or free, male and female — for you are all one in Christ Jesus." — Galatians 3:28

God is a still-speaking God — and we read Scripture with expectancy, not just deference. "The Spirit will guide you into all truth." — John 16:13

The priesthood of all believers. Every person here is a minister. Every person carries a calling to care, to serve, to show up. Pastoral leadership matters — but it's not a substitute for yours. "You are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation." — 1 Peter 2:9

We covenant together to love one another well, show up faithfully, serve generously, refuse to tear each other down, and keep the door wide open — because we know what it means to finally find a place where you belong.

What We're Called To

To worship together — week after week, in ways that are honest and alive.

To be fully inclusive and affirming
— not as a courtesy, but as a conviction. The way of Jesus leads toward welcome. Scripture's arc bends toward dignity. We follow that arc, and it has brought us here: a community where LGBTQ+ people are fully welcomed, fully affirmed, and fully at home. No asterisks. "God shows no partiality." — Acts 10:34

To share God's love and compassion — in how we preach, how we serve, and how we treat the person sitting next to us.

To celebrate the sacraments — Baptism and Holy Communion — signs of the grace that holds all of us and the table that is open to all. "Come, eat my bread and drink the wine I have mixed. Leave your simple ways and you will live." — Proverbs 9:5-6

To mission — in this community, in this nation, and in this world. Love that doesn't show up in the world isn't love. It's a feeling. We're working on making ours real. "What does the Lord require of you but to do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with your God?" — Micah 6:8

Our Statement of Faith

This isn't a test you have to pass. It's a testimony — what the tradition has found to be true, offered openly rather than demanded uniformly.

We believe in God, the Eternal Spirit, who is made known to us in Jesus our brother, and to whose deeds we testify: God calls the worlds into being, creates humankind in the divine image, and sets before us the ways of life and death.

God seeks in holy love to save all people from aimlessness and sin. God judges all humanity and all nations by that will of righteousness declared through prophets and apostles.

In Jesus Christ, the man of Nazareth, our crucified and risen Lord, God has come to us and shared our common lot, conquering sin and death and reconciling the whole creation to its Creator.

God bestows upon us the Holy Spirit, creating and renewing the church of Jesus Christ, binding in covenant faithful people of all ages, tongues, and races.

God calls us into the church to accept the cost and joy of discipleship, to be servants in the service of the whole human family, to proclaim the gospel to all the world and resist the powers of evil, to share in Christ's baptism and eat at his table, to join him in his passion and victory.

God promises to all who trust in the gospel forgiveness of sins and fullness of grace, courage in the struggle for justice and peace, the presence of the Holy Spirit in trial and rejoicing, and eternal life in that kingdom which has no end.

Blessing and honor, glory and power be unto God. Amen.
